Line Webtoons: Your New Best Friend

Found on the app store, this app will be the new holy grail of your obsession if you’re a fan of manga, zines and comics. It’s essentially an online platform where you can read exclusive comics and series for free. It has several genres from heart throbbing romance to thrillers that will keep you up at night, either out of fear or you’re just binging the series.

I’ve had this app for a couple years now and every week I wait anxiously for my favourite webtoons to update. It’s a painful realization knowing that your favourite comic only updates once week. Or when you find a new webtoons that has a good amount of chapters and you stay up late on a school night to binge through the entire series. Me being guilty of this several times.

Here are some recommendations:

  • Lookism

This webtoon is about an unattractive loner guy who suddenly has a miracle and turns into an attractive guy who battles society’s standards, all while making new and unlikely friends.

This was recommended to me by a close friend of mine and despite it having 170 chapters, this drama comic had me in tears crying either in laughter overload or cuteness.

  • My Dear Cold Blooded King

This webtoon is about a humble peasant, Kihara Mei, who had always lived a life of simplicity until she is thrusted into the world of the Blood King where she is tangled in a web of secrecy, deceit and desire.

I’ve been following this story for about a year now and it’s gotten me so riled up about who she’ll end up with. This is a romance webtoon that, trust me, you’ll won’t put your phone down for.

  • Noblesse

This webtoon is about Rai who wakes up from an 820-years long sleep and starts his new life as a student in a high school founded by his loyal servant, Frankenstein. This, as a result, causes Rai to face many old enemies that have been looking for him since he went into his deep sleep.

Okay, so don’t freak once you see how many chapters there are. This webtoon has been on Webtoons for a long time, many a couple years so it makes sense for the number of chapters its got. So my friend had dragged me into reading this, and I read every single one. This is more of a fantasy webtoon that surprisingly I don’t regret all the late hours I spent staying up to read this.

Webtoons aren’t just limited to these three comics, but they were my top three recommendations if you do ever think about downloading the app (You can read it on Mac and PC too). Some other titles that I also recommend are My Giant Nerd Boyfriend,  Let’s Play, Waffles & Pancakes, Miss Abbott and the Doctor, Super Secret, GOSU, Ghost Teller, Ecstasy Hearts, Winter Moon, Girls of the Wild etc.

There’s so much more, but I got to limit it or I’ll you bore. Now go download the app and read responsibly, child.
